Christopher Ludgate
Chris' credits include achievements as actor, director, producer, and as a writer in a variety of forms. He studied theater at Strasberg Theater Institute in NYC and HB Studios and NYU workshops in earlier years. Chris appeared in major roles in two feature films, several short films including Door of the Law, which was a finalist at the Akira Kurosawa Fest in Tokyo, Chris also appeared in U.S. soap operas and many roles in Off-off and off Broadway in NYC. Having fallen into the modeling industry in NYC and LA, Chris took on a parallel career accruing significant credits in that arena too, emerging on the covers of various novels while being featured in commercial print and TV ads, as well as in runway with occasional segues into fit modeling. He has also been featured in two fitness for men DVD’s.
Academically, Chris excelled in City University's Writing and Literature Program in which he consistently maintained Dean’s List status, won three consecutive merit scholarships as well as receiving top awards in fiction and drama writing competition. As an honors student in Journalism and Film at Baruch College, Chris garnered one of the top full scholarship awards, awards for outstanding volunteer service, and an invitation into Baruch's elite honors society, as well as Harmon Writers in Residence Program, and a Feit Seminar for avant-garde writing performance.
In 2008, Chris’ political satire theatre piece, The Love Permit, was produced Off-Off Broadway fostering a life-long dream to direct to be realized. After the sold out acclaimed premier at the old Algonquin Theatre in NYC, the play was nominated in The Strawberry Festival's '09 season at the American Theater of Actors. In January 2010, production wrapped for the film’s adaptation. The movie is directed by Chris and co-produced by his production company (small print) Films. TLP had its World Premier at Philadelphia's QFest in July 2010 to a sold out audience. Critical acclaim has continued to follow in the festival circuit worldwide. TLP has garnered many nominations, including wins for awards for Best Short Film, Best Screenwriting and a respectable Honorable Mention for Short Filmmaking. The film was also determined by audience vote to be among the Best Short Films of the Year for TLA Entertainment’s Short Film Competition. Chris is currently in preproduction for two of his screenplays including his first feature adapted from his award winning story The Hidden Face. Chris currently lives in NYC, involved in volunteer work with God’s Love We Deliver and Red Cross in addition to his endeavors in upcoming creative projects.
